Kira

We have had Kira from Spain for about 9 months now. She is doing very well, and has come a long way since we adopted her. She is still a bit skittish and is afraid of noises, especially the sound of shotgun fire from a distance. She is a very affectionate dog and really loves to play with other dogs.  Strangely, she won’t walk in our neighborhood or in urban areas. She is very afraid of loud trucks and busses. We walk her on a 33′ long line in wooded trail areas. She loves to run and sniff in the woods.

I have taught Kira to come when I blow a specific sound on a silent dog whistle. She also has been taught to sit, stay and give her paw. We also worked with a local trainer who is an expert Tracking Dog professional and we are thinking of teaching Kira some basic tracking and nosework skills. She seems like she would be suited for that.

She is a joy to us and we love her dearly.
