Dog Story: Tucker is a handsome, friendly 5-year old, orange and white Brittany who is ready for a new forever home! Tucker is a fun, cheerful boy who loves his squeaky toys, going for long walks, taking car rides, and playing ball. He is all about his morning serving of peanut butter and his afternoon crunchy dog treat. He knows basic obedience commands and is housebroken. He is accepting of other dogs and is cat-friendly. That said, while Tucker is a sweet boy, he does need a family that is experienced with and understands the particular needs of a high maintenance dog. He is headstrong and tends towards being fixated when outside so will need someone who can work with him using positive affirmations to reinforce appropriate behaviors and redirect his fixations. Additionally, Tucker suffers from separation anxiety so would do better in a household where someone either works from home or is only gone for short periods of time. He crates well at night for sleeping but gets anxious in a crate during the day and has broken out of his crate on several occasions. He does fine loose in the house when no one is home, but you can tell it’s still stressful for him to be left alone, even when there are other dogs in the house. Tucker is an owner surrender because his owner was moving to an apartment and felt Tucker wouldn’t thrive in that environment. Tucker was raised with a young boy so is familiar with children. Although because he does have a tendency to jump when excited he might not be good around small children. Tucker is heartworm negative, up to date on all shots, microchipped, and will be ready for adoption after his dental cleaning on May 30th.
