Dog Story: Tinker is approximately one year old. He is a gorgeous, smart, happy loving guy who will make a fantastic loving addition to the right family. He has a beautiful black and white coat with fantastic freckling and blue roan. He weighs approximately 23 pounds. He has crate trained and house trained very easily, and picked up commands fairly easily. He loves playing with toys and warms up to people very easily. He likes to cuddle and loves to zip around the back yard. He loves to play, play, play with other dogs. He is okay with cats but because of his intense play, should not be placed with a timid cat. He is terrified of the car and the leash. He is sometimes scared of noises. This is not a simple fear, and will require a dog savvy home to help him become confident to walk on leash and be in the car. Currently, the safest way for him to travel is to be in a travel crate but when he gets out, he has a few moments of absolute panic. We are working on this, but this is a slow process that cannot be rushed. It is highly unlikely that he would ever do well as a hunting partner, and likewise would take a long, long time to overcome his fear of the leash enough to be someone’s running/walking partner. Because of his car fear, we really can’t consider long distance adoptions. This needs to be within approximately 4 hours of northwest Ohio. For a dog savvy adopter who would enjoy the journey of helping him overcome his fears and would be content to have an awesome companion, this might be your boy! He must have a yard with a physical fence, and ideally, would have another dog to play with. If you are that person, please contact his foster familyafter completing an adoption application Tinker came to us from a shelter. Our boy had surgery for a cherry eye and was neutered immediately after coming in to rescue. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventive. He has been treated for some internal parasites. He is doing very well with housetraining and crate training.
