Sparky is a sweet and energetic boy that approaches life with gusto. He was raised as an outside dog, so he has been learning how to behave inside a home and ooh, there are so many rules to follow! He is learning quickly and generally requires only one correction to understand what is not acceptable. He is well on his way to being house trained. He will let you know when he needs to go out but still needs to be in his crate if not actively watched. Sparky obeys basic commands (especially good at sit and come). Sparky has learned to stay within the confines of the invisible fence and loves to chase the rabbits, deer, birds, butterflies or any other creature that happens to be in the yard. He does get rambunctious and I am still working with him not to jump up on people. My 13-year dog trained him to show proper manners around her within a couple of days (obviously a better trainer than me) and they are best buds now. No matter how worked up he is, he will sit absolutely still for petting and attention. Sparky seems calmer on weekends when I am around to give him more attention and time outside but I also think he would do fine in a household when left for the day as long as he gets some structured activity each day. He walks fairly well on a leash. I have not had him around children or cats but he is an intelligent fellow and I am sure with training, he could learn to behave appropriately.
