Dog Story:
Hi, I’m Slim! My foster mom gave me that name cause I was a REALLY thin when I came into rescue. My road here was a little rough but now I am coming out of my shell and doing great. I am a young neutered male (approximately 2 years old) who is up to date on all my shots, heartworm negative, and ready to enjoy life in my new home. I am a very sweet boy who will play in the yard with your kids and lay on your bed with you at night, if you will let me! If not, I can sleep in the crate or dog bed too!! I need to put on a couple pounds but I am healthy as can be. I can’t wait to find my forever home soon!
Foster dad here. Slim is a great dog all around. He has never been hunted that we know of but he does have a very high interest in the family of turkeys out back in the barn. He has a very nice point and may hunt if you wanted him too. Slim would really prefer to play in the back yard and curl up at your feet at night though. He is hesitant to climb up on the couch with you. He will get up there if you encourage him and he will get up there if you aren’t sitting there. HE DOESN’T LICK EITHER, NEVER!!! He will not be in your child’s face licking all over them uncontrollably. He does great with my 9 year old boy and has been around my 4 year old nephew too. I trust him with any of the children in our family.
Slim has a little bit of a dominance issue with other male dogs and prefers to be an only dog or with female dogs only. Slim is staying at a home with another brittany, 2 scottish terriers and a pekingese. He does very well with the two girls (the pekingese and one of the scotties). He would need some work on dominance to be placed with another male. I am not sure about cats. Slim counter surfs like a lot of brittanies. Most of the time he seems to be checking the counter to see if we left anything out for him. He checks it right after coming inside and then can normally be left alone after that. Slim promises to be the best little doggy you will find!! He just wants a permanent home with people to love.
Slim was found running at large when the shelter workers picked him up. Not much else is known about him.
