Adopted!!!
Someone is going to get a great dog!! Meet Sam one of the most beautiful Brittanys I have seen. You can tell he has been well taken care of. His white and orange fur just shines and his teeth are very clean. When he stands, you see a real Brittany. He is a big at 60 lbs. and 24 inches, current on all vaccinations and has been on heartworm preventative his whole life. He is very healthy, full of energy with no known medical conditions.
Sam is trained to be crated at night but does like to sleep on his bed with his blanket in the bedroom too. His previous owner said that Sam has been gun trained and has had a little retrieving training but has not hunted for a few years. He listens very well and knows the commands come, sit, stay, and settle. He does well retrieving balls but has trouble dropping them!
I think Sam would do best in a home where there are no children under 5 years old and he is the only dog. He gets along with our 2 Brittanys but does not like to share his humans with others! He loves attention and will lay on the floor right by you. He can talk up a storm when you pay attention to him and loves it when you talk back to him.
Sam will go to his kennel if you need to leave but he has had the run of our home with our 2 dogs and has not done any damage or marked at all. He will follow you from room to room just to be around you. He typically rides in a kennel in the car and has no issues but he has also ridden in the front and back seats for very short trips with me. His owner indicated that he has been on long trips without any issues He would need exercise on a regular basis as any young Brittany would. His previous owner also said he does like to pull on his leash so they used a harness which helps but this is something he would need some training on.
Sam was an owner surrender because he was not getting along with the couple’s young children. He doesn’t like to be around the kids and tends to hide in the house and avoid them. He has never bit a child but has growled at them before if they were getting in his space. They had him since he was a puppy and it was very tough for them to let him go.
