Dog Story: Hello! My name is Phoebe. I am also referred to as cuddle-bug. I am petite in size at 31 lbs. I was recently surrendered by my family to my new foster mom in North Carolina. At first I was very scared and really anxious at the same time. This was not a good combination of feelings to have all at once! I had previously lived in a kennel and did not get much human contact – but now I love any kind of attention. I believe that I would be good with kids and an active family. I would like to share that I need some help when it comes to basic commands. I do however know sit and my name! I would prefer a fenced in yard. I am house broken and I am crate trained. The one thing that sets me apart, other than all my freckles, is that I have three legs. I came to my foster home with a deformed left front leg due to a birth defect. ABR was nice and took me to be evaluated by a specialist. Everyone agreed that I would be better off without the leg, especially since I was already used to walking on three legs anyway. I am a very active little girl and actually more comfortable now after my surgery. I love playing with my squeaky and chew toys, and enjoy playing with other dogs. If you are interested in me (Phoebe), please complete the adoption application Phoebe was surrendered to ABR with her brother, after the owner decided that they had too many dogs and not able to care for them properly. Phoebe had surgery after coming into rescue to remove her bad leg. The prognosis is great, she is recovered and very healthy..
