Dog Story: On July 24, ABR participated in Operation Magnolia Brittany with the seizure of 103 Brittanys from a breeder in Louisiana. Despite the less than optimal situation they came from, in most every way they are your typical Brittanys – eager for love, resilient and spirited, and so very happy and sweet. ABR took 20 Magnolia Brittanys into California foster homes and our dogs have already had a wonderful start in ABR’s care. However, nearly all the Magnolia Brittanys are Heartworm Positive and require Heartworm treatment prior to adoption. Heartworm treatment requires several months in foster care and the cost of Heartworm treatment for each dog is approximately $1,000. The costs of veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping and Heartworm treatment in addition to the expense of supplies and transport for such a large group of dogs has been a great logistical and financial commitment. Our Brittanys are in desperate need ofBrittany Buddyhelp and donations to help with the costs of their vet care, medical expenses and transport. Please find it in your heart to contribute to Operation Magnolia Brittany and become aBrittany Buddy– all donations will go directly towards helping these wonderful, deserving Brittanys on their journey to a new life! While undergoing Heartworm treatment the Magnolia Brittanys will remain in the loving care of their ABR foster homes. All the dogs have started Heartworm treatment and require several weeks of crate rest, leash walks and quiet recovery as their physical exertion must be limited during treatment. All the dogs have been spayed/neutered, microchipped and fully vetted. As soon as their Heartworm treatment is complete they will be back to normal and ready to move to their forever homes! In the meantime we are accepting adoption applications for the Magnolia Brittanys and invite potential adopters to contact their foster homes for more information. If you are interested in adopting one of these wonderful Louisiana Brittanys, please submit the online ABRadoption applicationand then contact their foster families. a Magnolia Brittany from Louisiana. He is a 5 year old liver_white male and a shy and sweet guy. Noah is Heartworm positive and currently undergoing Heartworm treatment. Noah is a lucky boy because he has already found a forever family who will adopt him after he has finished his heartworm treatment. But Noah still would like to introduce himself on behalf of his Magnolia brothers and sisters so we’ll let him say a few words! Noah here you can call me Noah Number Nine of the Magnolia Brittanys. I am quite cute and very shy and also a little scared from this current adventure. As time goes on I sure seem to be coming out of my shell! I am just a bit jealous of my Britt foster siblings as they romp and play in the yard. I do look forward to being able to play with them as soon as I finish my course of heartworm treatment. Meanwhile, I’m pretty happy to relax and get treats and short walks from my foster family. Since my Heartworm treatment is a big investment and a long rescue road for all of us Magnolia dogs, we’d sure appreciateBrittany Buddydonations to any of my Louisiana brothers and sisters. This gift will help pay for our Heartworm treatments and a special treat once in awhile please join us as a Brittany Buddy! If you are interested in adopting, submit the onlineadoption applicationand mention that special Brittany’s name, then contact their foster family.
