Murphy came to ABR as an owner surrender. While his family loved him dearly, they could not give him the attention he needed and has trusted that we will find him the perfect home. He has spent a lot of time in a crate and dog run without the exercise and mental stimulation Brittanys require. Coming in at a solid 53 pounds, Murphy is a lot of dog with a lot of energy to match and little training to contain him. He will need an experienced home that can commit to supervising his antics and getting him into formal training. Per his first family, he shows a preference for women, but did live with a man in the house.

Murphy is a love sponge and will just sit absorbing and melting into your touch. He is create trained, housebroken, is learning the dog door, rides well in the car, listens out in the yard, and plays well with other dogs. His first family included a small child and they indicated that he loves camping and was regularly off-leash in open spaces. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Murphy needs close supervision and training. He has no leash manners, a history of eating things he should not, and will find something to keep himself occupied, dog appropriate or otherwise. Murphy will need containment while you are away, he is not a dog that can be left in the yard to his own devices. Murphy wakes up and goes to bed in play mode. While he plays well with others, he is very rough and tumble and may not be suitable to a home with small, disabled or geriatric dogs.

Murphy is a big goof ball with nothing but love to give. He deserves a family that can return that love with patience, guidance, and presence. There is a special spirit within Murphy that is hard to describe but one thing is for sure, he will keep you on your toes, love you every moment, and be your constant companion.
