Dog Story: Memphis is a typical busy one year old, very active Brittany pup! Memphis does very well on the leash while walking on the river trail. He loves to greet new dogs with a friendly play bow, and will charm and tease until they are ready to play back! Memphis is very interested in all the new smells he finds outside and anything that moves is considered interesting, including toads, leaves, cats, squirrels and birds. He has settled into his foster home and is learning that the cats and pet goats are not prey. In the house he knows not to chase the kitties or he will get scratched across the nose, and when the cats are outside they are not to be chased. Unless they are very dominant and dog-savvy cats, it’s probably best that Memphis is in a house without felines. Memphis also loves the water, both the plastic wading pool at his foster home and the river. He enjoys running around the yard in speedy greyhound style, and then flying in the pool and splashing anything within a 3 foot distance. Although Memphis has a great prey drive, he is not a candidate as a hunting dog. Memphis needs very gentle corrections as he is eager to please, and was likely treated harshly at some point in his young life and punished using an electronic collar. Fortunately those days are behind him now with a bright future ahead! Memphis has learned to go in his crate at bedtime when no one is home. He was very underweight when he came from the shelter, and is now putting on the weight he needs with healthy food and extra supplements. He loves the fresh goat milk he gets at his foster home. Memphis is learning basic obedience, but will need continued obedience training as he grows into a good canine citizen. Memphis is full of energy, very inquisitive and loves to cuddle and get all the attention he can. He will need a home with an active family that has the time and commitment to give Memphis lots of exercise, continued supervision and training, playtime and devotion to a Britt puppy. Memphis is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you’re ready for a busy young boy to fill your home with lots of love and endless entertainment, please submit the online adoption application and mention Memphis-4034, then contact his foster family to come meet him! Memphis was a stray at a shelter in Utah, underweight and in need of a real home. ABR rescued him from the shelter and he hopped on a volunteer transport with several other Britts to reach his foster home in California
