Little Lady Lu is a very cute dog with tons of personality. She makes us laugh! We don’t know very much about her background. Apparently she was a stray and was rescued by a shelter in Iowa. She was surrendered to ABR, but not before she managed to win the hearts of her caretakers. From Iowa she traveled to St Louis where she had surgery to remove some unsightly eyelid growths, and from there she traveled to Springfield, MO to live with her foster family.Lady Lu is 30 pounds of spunk and energy. he is a little French Brittany, with dark brown spots and lots of curls. She likes to play and will torment our big old Britt with her antics until he just can’t take it. “Don’t poke the bear!” we tell her, but she is not listening. Or, more correctly, it’s that she is mostly deaf and can’t hear us.Lady Lu has balance problems due to vestibular disease. She handles her challenges very well. She has made great progress since she has been with us, probably because she gets lots of exercise running around our very large, fenced backyard and taking long walks at the farm. She falls down frequently but bounces right back up and keeps going. Our little Lady has lots of energy for a 12-13 year old girl. Because of her deafness and balance problems she really needs a home with a fenced yard. She is up to date on her shots and takes heart worm and flea and tick preventatives. If you would like to add Lady to your family please fill out an adoption applicationand include her name on the form.Lady Lu was a stray and came to ABR by way of an animal shelter in Indianola, Iowa. She seems to be in good health, other than her hearing and balance problems. She is heart worm negative, up to date on her shots and has had some eyelid tumors removed. However, when she was recently being prepped for a dental cleaning her heart rate fell and they could not complete the procedure. She recovered fine, and hopefully she will never need anesthesia again!
