Dog Story: Jobey is one of the coolest dogs you may ever meet! He is very laid back in the house, affectionate and happy-go-lucky; just as a well adjusted male Brittany should be. Weighing in at 45 lbs and standing 21 inches to the withers, this boy is a bit larger than your average Brittany but is very athletic and trim. When he’s not in the backyard hunting tirelessly for lizards with his foster siblings, Jobey is at his favorite dog park running the wooded trails and splashing through the bone shaped dog pool. He comes when he is called, sits for his meals and sleeps quietly in his crate all night, sometimes even sprawled out on his backside. For a nine year old ‘regular’ dog, you may expect a retired gentleman who will only need one walk a day. However, for a 9 year old Brittany dog, you can expect to have an energized companion who will keep you moving – Jobey is no exception to this expectation! He will need a family who understands that despite his age, he HAS to have the opportunity to run with the wind daily. He jumps and twirls about the house when it’s time to go somewhere but makes a very civilized companion in the car and even waits to be released from his seat by command. His fence manners are a different story you see, Jobey was surrendered by his family because he kept climbing over the fence (it is important to note here that he was left outside most of the time). He was returned several times after being picked up by the shelter but that fateful last escape, his family decided the shelter should keep him. Despite the fact that this family got rid of their dog for such a silly reason, it is obvious that he was otherwise well-cared for. He has no issues, is very healthy, well socialized and incredibly affectionate he just wants to be with his people. Jobey’s ideal home will have an adult home most of the time and at least one other canine companion in the household.
