Dog Story: Hey I’m Hunter and despite my recent background of neglect I am full of love and enjoying my new life at my foster home in sunny Miami, getting ready for my permanent home who is looking for a young, fun, affectionate boy like me. Everyone always says I’m so sweet and I guess that’s because I have a bit of a naiveté about me due to being neglected for so long but don’t have any residual anger or bitterness. All I know how to do is love and love and love. I get so excited to go on walks and runs every day and do very well on the leash. I’m learning to play with a Frisbee and with toys after seeing other dogs at the dog park play but before this I didn’t even know what to do with a toy so I would just look at it and walk away. I like to wake up my foster Mom in the mornings with my paws gently on the side of her bed and a big smile with my tail fluttering from side to side. After that I have learned to go potty out in the backyard and then come in and devour my breakfast. I get 3-4 small servings of food a day because I eat so fast and am trying to fatten up a bit. During the day my foster Mom works so I lie nicely in my crate and when she comes home I greet her with lots of excitement, and kisses. I still get a little scared around tall men like my foster Mom’s boyfriend and although he is very gentle and nice to me I don’t trust him 100% and sometimes like to run and hide so will need to go to a home where someone is patient and can help me learn to trust men. At the dog park and on my walks I am friendly with all people and all dogs big or small. I just love to play and bounce around and chase other dogs. But above all I love kids! If there are children around I hardly even notice other dogs. They are my all time favorite! Just yesterday a little boy I met at the park asked if my foster Mom could take our picture together so that I could hang it up by my bed to remember him. He was so sweet! When I come back home in the evenings I like to snuggle up in the lap of whomever will take me. Ear and neck rubs put me in a trance. I’m still learning a lot about being in a home full of love for me, getting to go for car rides, and to parks, and to visit other people’s houses but I’m loving it all and especially like all the attention that comes from conquering the hearts of those I meet. I would really like to go to a home with kids and/or other dogs because I really need someone to play with. I want to make up for lost time during the first four years of my life. History: Hunter was dumped off at a high kill shelter in rural South Carolina along with two female Brittneys. He was covered in fleas and a belly full of parasites and helminths in addition to being very underweight. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, flea-free, and heartworm negative.
