Dog Story: Honey is a very active 10-month-old, 30 lb., spayed, orange and white purebred Brittany girl who appreciates being indoors after spending her previous life left chained outside until coming into foster care. She is heartworm negative and up-to-date on vaccines. She currently lives in a foster home with 2 other resident dogs, 2 horses and 3 outside barn cats. She loves to play and wrestle with our 52 lb. male dog, chasing tennis balls and tugging on a variety of rope toys. While outside, she has displayed the typical Brittany characteristic of searching for anything that moves. She leaps for dragonflies, watches intently the 3 cats that seem to taunt her on the other side of the fence and has discovered that frogs taste nasty! Honey will definitely need the companionship of another dog(s). She loves cuddling; belly rubs and enjoys being spoiled while watching TV. Her favorite show is Animal Planet. Honey sleeps all night on a comfy dog bed in her crate. She has been really good with house training and runs to the door when she needs to go out. We realized early it’s not always to go potty but we praise her for going to the door and eventually after making several laps around the yard, she is back indoors. We have begun working on basic commands with her and she is perfecting sit, but needs continued training on down, come, and off. She rides nicely in the car while crated. She is starting to get the objective of walking on a leash, but can easily get distracted. Cats may be an issue since she has a high hunting prey instinct and we are not sure what she would do. Honey loves EVERYONE and EVERYTHING it is exciting to see her sheer love of life. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard, a young dog(s) to play with and an adoptive family that will offer her exercise and continue obedience training. All she wants is a chance to be in a loving home. Won’t you consider Honey to be part of your family? If so please fill out our online adoption application at ) and mention Honey. Honey was purchased off craigslist by a good samaritan as they wanted her to have a life outside of being chained outside. They then contacted ABR to help this sweet girl on to a better life.
