Meet Freckles ..also known as Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome. He is one cute, young man looking for someone who doesn’t mind coaching him into a perfect young adult. One reason Freckles is so tall is he is not all Brittany. Dad was a Brittany and mom was a Brittany/hound mix. (We’re pretty sure that mix must have had some German Shorthaired Pointer in there.) But he’s so sweet and cute, we’re not going to hold that against him! Like all youngsters, Freckles is super friendly and eager to please. He loves meeting new people and dogs and that tail of his is always going. He loves to walk and fetch balls. As with all young pups, he needs a family ready to be active with him, but is also quite a cuddlebug and is more than ready to snuggle up with you when he’s ready to rest. Freckles came to us as an owner surrender from a family with three very small children. They didn’t feel Freckles was getting the time or attention he deserved. Overall, he is a good boy who takes appropriately to the training cues given him, but he has come from a background where he didn’t get a lot early appropriate training and had a few issues. He will need a family that has some dog savviness to keep him moving on the track to good canine citizenship. Therefore, we really don’t recommend him for first time dog owners or for families with children younger than middle school age. Freckles is up to date on all of his shots, is heartworm negative, and got a clean bill of health from the vet. He loves following around the three year old resident female Brittany and they play together wonderfully. We’re told he gets along well with cats, but haven’t tested it out ourselves. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night and when alone in the house. We’ve even caught him going in the crate on his own at nap time. He is well house trained and doesn’t mess with any household items other than socks. No sock is safe if it is unattended on his watch! He’s settled in very well at his foster home in just a few weeks. In fact, the teenage human in the house says Freckles is her favorite foster so far. If you are interested in Freckles, please fill out the adoption application and then e-mail the foster family for further information. Freckles is an owner surrender from a family with 3 small children who didn’t have time to train him and work with him to teach him good behavior.
