Dog Story: Dusty and Stormy are an adorable pair of 4 year old orange and white Brittany brothers. Both boys are living in the same ABR foster home and very bonded. Dusty and Stormy have been together since birth, so while we would prefer to keep them together with a new forever family, we will consider adopting them separately to the right homes. Dusty is very sweet and unbelievably affectionate. He is a gentle soul, a little shy and full of kisses. He is a little bigger than Stormy at around 38 pounds. Dusty is a very soft dog – sweet, gentle and always seeking your approval. The brothers are very bonded but have done very well integrating with our two dogs. Dusty will cuddle on your lap for hours and then enjoy romping in the yard and playing games of chase with our younger Chesapeake. He gets along beautifully with our daughter and above all loves people. Dusty and Stormy were previously kept as outside dogs but are adjusting quickly to life indoors and learning house manners. So far they are housetrained with some typical counter-surfing and kid-toy stealing. Dusty and Stormy are crate-trained and rest safe and sound in their crates when the family is out. Dusty rarely barks and we would characterize his energy level as moderate for a Brittany when provided the regular daily exercise he needs. He has a tendency towards door-dashing for a fun jaunt outside and with continued work on wait, recall and other basic commands Dusty will continue to learn with his new family. Dusty and Stormy were previously fully trained as hunting dogs and respond to whistle commands. However, we have not tested them in the field and our priority is placing both dogs in forever homes where they will first and foremost enjoy life as beloved indoor family pets. You could not ask for a sweeter Brittany than Dusty; he has stolen a piece of our hearts and is truly a joy to have around. Dusty is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventive and microchipped. Dusty and Stormy have been together all their lives and were surrendered by their family after their owner became ill. When the owner could no longer care for the dogs, Dusty and Stormy were kept chained in the front yard for 12 hours a day and in their crates in the garage for 12 hours a day. They are in need of a loving home that can provide plenty of time, exercise, attention and cuddling.
