Adopted!!!

Although we have only had Drake for just over 24 hours, he is already showing improvement! He knows how to escape a wire crate, but with corrections, he is learning that is not an OK behavior. We are doing well in the crate when he has a bone/something to keep his mind busy! He is a dog that needs lots of love and lots of mental stimulation. We will begin working on recall and commands, as well as exposing him to as many fun things and people as we can! He has done wonderful with all dogs he has met, will sniff, and let them be. The only exception to that is with my chihuahua. He will ‘bop’ him on the head to try to get him to play with him I think! He came from a home where he was secluded and kenneled a majority of the time, leaving him with a lot of pent-up energy, and not a lot of interaction. He was from south of Dickinson, ND, and made his way the the eastern side of the state to stay with us for a while. We will post more updates soon as we get to know him better! 3/10/19: Drake is settling in well to life with a new family. He has gone to daycare during the day to help ensure he is not breaking out of his kennel, as well as to give him more mental stimulation. He got neutered last wednesday, and is healing up well! We have been using a ‘doughnut’ cone with him, and it funny enough causes him to snore at night! He would do best in a home with limited time alone in the kennel. He gets very bored, and needs more stimulation than that. He is a very fast learner, and is picking up things quickly. We have had him for 13 days, and he has not had one accident! I would say he is 100% potty trained! He loves all the love he can possibly take in! He loves to cuddle, but loves belly scratches even more! He enjoys all sorts of toys, but bones have been the best for him as he cannot destroy them. We have a chicken toy that he is OBSESSED with and will squeak for hours and hours, and will fling it around (he is doing so as i type this!). He would also do best in a home that has experience with training dogs, is used to the brittany energy, and is willing to take the time to teach them all he can. He has slowly been learning how to play with other dogs, but is struggling to know his size with our chihuahua. He definitely has a great drive to hunt, and could have the potential to hunt with the right person to teach him.. If you feel you have what Drake needs to be thrive and grow, then please complete the adoption application and mention his name and ID #. Drake is up to date on his vaccines and heartworm negative and on prevenative. Drake was given to the prior owners with the intentions of hunting him. Life had other plans though and the husband became too busy to continue working with Drake. Add to that long hours away from home and Drake became destructive as he hated being alone for long hours. ABR was contacted and we took him in and have been working with him with great success.
