Adopted!!!
Dog Story
Meet Downey! This handsome, bouncy boy is a total Brittany puppy chock full of energy. He is a true social butterfly who loves to run, play and chase critters. Downey can entice most anyone to be his friend and even likes to play with the cats! He adores attention and affection and is still learning good manners such as walking on leash, chewing on appropriate toys and greeting people without jumping up. Downey is in a foster home with four other dogs and two cats and enjoys being part of the pack, wrestling and zooming around just for the sheer joy of it all.
Downey came to us as a neglected stray needing medical care. Fortunately his ABR foster mom is a specialty veterinarian and he started gold standard treatment right away to get all fixed up! Downey was underweight, had a ruptured eardrum, ear infections and demodex mange, a non-contagious skin condition for which he has been receiving weekly treatment injections. Downey is a slender tall boy at 44 pounds and eats like a champion. Lucky Downey also gets to go to work with foster mom at the vet hospital every day! He is housetrained and crate trained, sleeping safe and quiet in his crate at night and when the family is out. Downey enjoys playing with children and with his exuberant puppy nature would do well with older kids. He likes to point and chase critters on walks, so would be best in a home with no cats unless they are ready to play like the dogs.
This wonderful youngster needs an active home with a family that can devote lots of love, time and attention and the training and regular daily exercise an outgoing Brittany pup requires. Downey is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. We’d like to find Downey a home in the Orange County/Southern California area where he can continue his demodex treatment injections for a few more months with foster mom. If you’re interested in welcoming home a gorgeous, fun-loving Brittany boy, please submit the online adoption application and mention Downey-3804, then contact his foster family!
Downey was found as a stray wandering the campus of a local high school. One of the teachers kindly took him in and contacted ABR to bring Downey into rescue.
