Dog Story 2-7-15 Dixie update Dixie is showing a lot more confidence now that she is fully recovered from her spay surgery and acclimated to her new surroundings. She just needed a little time to adjust. She is starting to play with her foster siblings, a 5 yr. old female and 12 yr old male. She is friendly with all people that cross her path and is very obedient. She does not like being left alone but fine if left with at least one other dog. She would be best with older dogs. Dixie is a very sweet and loving 6 yr old Britt who is a bit insecure. Once she has been given lots of attention and affection, I believe it should boost her confidence. She knows basic commands, is crate and potty trained, knows how to use a doggy door and a good traveler in a car. She loves sleeping in her dog bed and has been a real trooper recovering from her recent spay surgery. She has all her shots now too. Dixie is starting to feel more comfortable at her foster home and showing signs of wanting to play with toys. With some encouragement and toy training, I think she would enjoy toys. She does have some separation anxiety and is not real fond of my other dogs. As long as they leave her be, they are fine around each other. She had very little reaction to the vet’s hospital cat that came around her and did okay with the cat at her first temporary foster home as long as the cat did not run. Dixie is best suited in a new forever home where she wouldn’t be left alone too much. She does fine on a leash, likes going for walks even with other dogs, and goes potty right away. She loves being petted and belly rubs and wants to be near you. She will come and find you if you leave her alone too long. She is in good health, doesn’t jump on people, and very mellow for a Brittany. Great dog for an older person or couple and doesn’t mind traveling or strangers. She probably would be okay with a male older dog that wouldn’t bother her. If Dixie sounds like the perfect addition to your family please fill out the online adoption applicationand mention Dixie. Dog History Dixie was surrendered to a shelter and then rescued by ABR.
