Dog Story: Well Hello! I’m Dexter! Am I a handsome boy or what?! ?! I am an affectionate, playful, smart and energetic boy who would love an active family to call my own. I LOVE kids and I haven’t met a dog I didn’t like. In fact, I would love to have a playmate that I can play chase with. My foster sister, Molly (another Brittany) has been showing me the ropes on how to behave nicely in the house. Other than the occasion counter expedition, I have great house manners. I know my basic commands. My foster family works with me EVERY DAY. I am very smart and have a strong desire to please and I LOVE treats. I’ll lay down as many times as you want me to for a yummy treat! I am a pro at ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘look’ and ‘touch’. I’m pretty good at ‘wait’ and ‘off’. Those usually involve food so I may need to be told twice. I can’t help it, I really like food, but I’m getting better at learning patience. My foster mom says, ‘Good things come to those who wait.’ Gosh, I hope that’s true because I am patiently waiting for my forever home. And I know that will be good when I find it! I am housebroken and crate trained. If you’re going to be gone, it is best to put me in my crate so I stay out of trouble. Don’t worry, I like it in there. I curl up with a yummy elk antler and that keeps me busy and content! I am also used to sleeping in my crate at night, but sure wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to spend the night in the bed! I love to be outside and walk beautifully on a leash. My foster family takes me for walks and/or runs almost day and that is my favorite time of day. Well, that and belly-rubs time!! I LOVES BELLY RUBS!!!! On rainy days, I’m lucky enough to get to go to playcare and hang with my buddies, but if not, Molly will chase me around the yard enough to wear me out! Dexter knows basic commands. He passed an obedience class with his previous owner. We are refreshing him on these things and he is doing surprisingly well! I am very affectionate and love to cuddle up beside you. I am happy to roll on my back with all four paws up in the air so you can easily access my belly for belly rubs. Really, whatever I can do to make it easy for you. Easy for you = more belly rubs for me. It’s a win-win! Now that I have impressed you with how awesome I am, check out these pictures and videos of me to see for yourself! https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zla031dnwxedv4v/QwMxnp7TjX If you’d like more information about me, please fill out an adoption application and/or contact my foster mom. I’m sure I’ll steal someone’s heart soon! Dexter was surrendered when his elderly owner was no longer able to care for him.
