We just got the call over the weekend.’ 6-9-11 Deuce is back on the pending page while the veterinarian is working with his injured leg from the snake bite wound to regain more mobility and flexibility. We will move him back to public pages once we have a better understanding of his long term medical prognosis. thank you, Melba Dog Story: Deuce is a wonderful and loving French Brittany! We named him Deuce because he got a second chance at life after being bitten on the leg by a rattlesnake. He was brought to ABR as a stray by a good samaritan in Bastrop who cared for him briefly after he was bitten and wandered onto her property. He is one of the most gentle and calm Brittany’s I have seen. He is great around the kids and indifferent to our cat. He lets the kids pick him up and take him to shower for his hydro treatment for the snake bite and for baths. He has never growled or shown aggression towards kids, our two dogs, or the cat. He sleeps with the kids or on their floor and he pretty much has the run of the house with our other dogs. He rarely barks, but he does get excited when we pull the leash out for a walk. He is alert and quick to learn. He knows how to sit and stay, and he knows not to bolt when the door is opened. He is responding very well to his new name and he comes when called while in the house or back yard. Duece would be a good fit for a home as the only dog or as a first dog for a new family. He would also be an excellent complement to a multi-dog family that is looking for a second dog and wants a calm, loving Brittany. He gets along great with our 10 yr old dog and is starting to play a bit more with our 3 yr old Brittany. He is house-trained and has not chewed or destroyed anything in the house. Duece will make a full recovery and will be an active, fun, and affectionate dog forthe lucky family that adopts him. Deuce was rescued by a Good Samaritan who then turned him over to ABR.
