Hello, my name is Delaware! My owner was a member of the Delaware Tribe of Indians so thus my given name.I had a wonderful owner but he got real sick, so I had to stay outside most of the time. One day hepassed away and I was all alone. A nice lady and her dog moved in to fix up the house and to take care ofme. I didn’t like the strange dog in my yard, so I got mad. She called the nice people at ABR and my fosterfamily picked me up. I am learning so much like this thing in the door that has this flap if I push on it, I can go out and do the same to come in. Oh how I love using the flap thingy to go in and outside and explore the yard and stuff!I do like going on walks and meeting new people. I am not overly energetic like somebrittanys are. I am a very calm boy that likes to cuddle on the couch and as noted above, I like to explore in the back yard.My old house had lots or sharp pointy things, so I have a few scares. I am looking for a safe place to callmy own and a family that gives me lots of love and attention.Foster dad here! Delaware (or Del as we call him)is 8 years old and about 56 pounds. He is up to date on immunizations, heart-worm negativeand on prevention. He is neutered and micro-chipped. We have been working with lots of success on house training him (he has only had one accident) as well as cratetraining. Because of Del’s age and activity level, he qualifies for the Senior to Senior adoption program.Delaware would prefer sleeping outside than in his crate, so we continue to work with him on that.Delaware would do best in a house where he is theonly pet.As noted above, Delaware was with his owner since he as a pup. Unfortunately, his owner became very ill and Delaware spent the last few years outside. His owner passed away and a family member moved in to take care of everything. The house was being put up for sale and Delaware needed to leave that is when ABR was contacted.
