Adopted!!!
Hello, I’m Dandy. I came to my foster family really skinny and stressed out after spending
several months at an animal shelter. But life with my foster family has been
wonderful. I’m getting daily walks, lots of extra food (to get me back to
my ideal weight) and most importantly lots of love. My foster family’s
dog kinda ignores me (she’s obsessed with hunting squirrels and rabbits in the
yard), but I don’t care because I like humans the most. I like following
my foster mom around and I really like snuggling on the couch! I lived most
of my life in a kennel, so indoor living is amazing.Foster mom here. Handsome five-year old Dandy is a super sweet, quiet and mellow Brittany (yes!
mellow that’s not a typo). He gets along fine with our female Brittany
but prefers human interaction and attention right now. Dandy recently
learned to fetch a tennis ball and play tug a war (with me)! Dandy didn’t
have any formal training, so we’re working on the basics (sit, down, come,
heel, etc.) using lots of patience, dog treats and encouragement. He
would benefit from taking a class with his new family. He’s heeling very
well (without pulling) on our walks! While in foster care, Dandy has been
crate-trained and house-broken using a doggie door! Although Dandy rides
very well in the car, he still gets nervous when visiting new places (vet
office, pet store) but he warms up nicely to people especially if they give him
treats. He’s never lived with children and finds them scary (too noisy),
so I think his forever family should only have older children. Ideally,
his new family would have one adult working from home (or at least home
part-time) and a fenced yard to explore. No long distance or sight unseen
adoptions for Dandy. We feel it is important that all family members (human and
canine) meet to assure that we have a good fit. If you want a loyal,
loving companion, Dandy may be the dog for you! Please fill out an application and mention your interest in DandyDandy was surrendered to an animal shelter because hisowner could no longer
care for him. Shelter life did not suit Dandy. He became stressed out and
lost a lot of weight so ABR took him into foster care. He is
neutered, chipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on
preventative.
