My name is Cruz and I am a bird school flunk out. There! I said it out loud. OK, so I’m not a bird dog but there are extenuating circumstances. See, I wasn’t socialized when I was a bitty baby. I was just sent off to school too young and the only thing I learned was how to be good in my crate. And I am very good in it. A little too good according to Herself ‘cuz I tend to hide in it. And I wasn’t treated all that good there either. You add that all together and you get a dog who came to live with Herself and her pack of four legged heathens. The first couple of days Herself just sat outside my crate and talked nice to me until I decided maybe her lap was an ok place. I’ve gotten better. She can sit 60 feet away and I’ll come running. Who knew ear rubbings were so wonderful? And we shake paws a lot. (I do that when I’m comfortable.) I can do both paws at the same time now. I also will get between her legs when she is trying to clean. I’m just trying to be helpful and maybe steal some lovin’. And I just started a new game. I goose her when she is walking away from me. Hee Hee Hee! I do like all the heathens. There is a pretty girl here who is playing hard to get but I’m determined to win Penny over. After all, I’m very handsome. So if you’d like to start the new year with a heathen of your own or maybe you’d like the thrill of being goosed when you least expect it, give me a call!
Happy New Year,
Cruz, the bird school flunk out
Herself, here:
This is another one of what I call my special fosters: a lovely, young dog who came from a hunt kennel, was not properly socialized and then sent to the wrong bird camp too young. Needless to say, he flunked out. Cruz has the potential to be a wonderful companion. He needs a lot of patience, time and an occasional push in the right direction. While he has been with me, he has learned that hugs and ear rubs are wonderful things. He loves to play with other dogs. In fact, he is a total flirt with the girls. He thinks quite highly of himself. He has nice manners, waits patiently for his meals, and to be let out of his crate. He has discovered being a house dog is really his calling – which is good because he doesn’t have any bad habits, yet. When he is relaxed, he likes to shake paws and give a little nose kiss. And as an extra incentive to making him your own, he has decided that giving the occasional goose is really funny. So if you’d like to make this lovely young boy your own to teach bad habits to, let me know.
