Well hello there, Copper! Nice to meet you!
I’ve got to be honest… When I first met Copper, I was super impressed. He was taken into ABR, but it wasn’t anything he had done. Sometimes, life deals crazy cards, and someone loved him enough to want the absolute best for him in spite of the cards they had been dealt.

Copper is 9, but you’d never know it! He acts and looks much younger. He’s been an active dog his entire life and was trained as a falconry dog (If you don’t know what that is, Google it! I had to as well.)! His command list seems to be quite extensive and occasionally, he’ll come, sit at my feet and face forward as if he’s telling me “Come on! Go get the bird and let’s hunt!” It would be fun for his forever family to research more about falconry dogs, and use it to help learn more about him! Even though he has hunted in the past, he doesn’t have a strong Brittany hunt/prey drive. He’s perfectly content being a family dog.

Copper is a very well mannered and obedient dog. He is spunky, loving, confident, willing to please, and just an overall amazing Brittany. I instantly fell in love with his little tuft of hair on the top of his head! He loves to cuddle and be near his person. It’s always such a joy to see a Brittany come through ABR’s foster care that has no abuse or neglect history. He’s a beautiful representation of the breed in both looks and personality.

When Copper entered our home, he was unfazed, non-reactive, and transitioned very quickly. He eats alongside my Brittanys, and sleeps in the same bedroom as all of us! I’d consider him a neutral dog – not passive and not dominant. He’s confident, yet listens and obeys if correction is given. He’s been on a farm where there were outside cats and he pays them no mind. He has also been around chickens with the same lack of interest. The times he’s been around my young grand babies, he did wonderful with them!

I feel Copper would love to be with a semi to full retired family. He is used to being with a man out doing things, running errands, and being his best companion. He travels very well and… seems to enjoy it actually! He loves being in our camper and looks like he’s been in one before. He also enjoys just laying on the couch with you while watching TV. He’s very low maintenance and doesn’t seem to require a lot of exercise other than a nice walk. He absolutely loves to be loved on and is so gentle! Smart, handsome, car, kid, dog, cat AND chicken friendly? Could there be a more perfect guy?!

And to top it all… that Brittany butt of his is one of the cutest and curliest I’ve ever seen! He is almost always happily wagging that little stub and rear end. It’s a true sign of the happiness and gratefulness inside him.
