Howdy! I’m Cooper, a native Texan. I’m a laid-back, happy 5 yr old Brittany. I love to romp in the yard and ‘hunt’ squirrels with my two Brittany buddies. I love pets and rewards for learning new things. I also enjoy playing with the 2 grands, 11 & 8 yrs old.

I arrived in time to go with my foster parents to ABR’s booth at the Houston Dog Show. (Cooper, who never meets a stranger, met hundreds of people and other dogs during his two days at the show) I got so much love by everyone who passed by. I sure enjoy meeting adults, kiddos and other dogs.

I went on a 5 day trip to the beach. I love playing in the ocean waves and watching the shore birds. But, I still need reassurance that I am loved and safe. I was unsure if I would be left when we went to the beach house. Going for long beach walks and then coming back home with my fosters helped build confidence that I was safe.

Right now, Cooper does best if we are not gone more than 3 hours. He is a really sweet dog who is learning how to live indoors and have appropriate toys with which to play. Coop sleeps in a crate but otherwise can roam indoors and our iron-fenced yard when he is let out.

Cooper does really good with our 2 Brittany boys. In Cooper’s former life he was a kennel dog with several other Brittanys. Cooper would love being the only dog to experience all the love and attention a family can pour into him.

Cooper saw his new Veterinarian the day after he arrived at his foster home. Cooper’s tests all came back negative for problems except his test for heartworms. He has been treated with the American Heartworm Society’s protocol and rechecked by his Vet, finding his heart and lungs sounds are great. Cooper is back to normal activity… hunting the backyard and going on walks. He cannot be tested again for heartworms until April or May of 2025. ABR has covered all medical expenses and will cover the expense for retesting.

HISTORY:

Cooper along with 2 others were surrendered when the owner ran into financial problems. We were contacted and took them in.
