Dog Story: I will love, love, love you! says this handsome, thirty-five pound bundle of joy. He has been well-loved and gives lots of love in return. He’s very loyal and a great listener (as long as squirrels aren’t nearby). Cody truly enjoys making others happy. He likes to sit in on laps (if allowed) and is very, very affectionate. He follows his folks around the house while they cook/clean/do laundry/homework, and is never out of the room that they are in. Cody LOVES attention, will complete tasks for treats and understands positive reinforcement. He would enjoy a family with a stay at home parent or a retired owner who is still active. He loves to lay on the floor his family and watch tv, play ball, play tug of war, earn treats, lick things, chew the googly eyes off stuffed animals, and rub against a knee until his ears are scratched. He is very happy to go anywhere and meet new people. Cody loves to play, play, play. Once he gets comfortable with dogs, he’ll run/race, do affectionate ‘biting’ play, loves to roll around on the floor and pounce with his family’s other dog. They share a kennel, are fed at the same time but are respectful of their individual bowls. Sit, Stay, Down, No, Drop it, Shake, Fetch (go get it!) are some of the commands he knows. He will sit for the throw and stay until he is released to fetch. He does not always bring ball/stick/frisbee back and is still working on leash training. He can be unaware of his body, is great with kids unless there’s a squirrel out the window that he needs to see. Then he’ll run past and knock over very small children. The youngsters in his home are 3 and 5. He’s been very tolerant of their behavior: dressing him up in a fireman hat, covering him with blankets like he is a baby. He will lick faces and hands but stops when told ‘drop it.’ If you’d like to love and be loved by this exceptional and fantastic companion, please complete an adoption application n and mention Cody. He is neutered, utd on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. Since an accident left his owner quadriplegic, Cody is crated 11 hrs per day during the week. He is very unhappy as he was used to being with his family, playing all day, every day. Cody is forlorn and sad daily.
