5.5.2024 Charlie was dropped off at the foster by the daughter of his former owner who passed unexpectedly. No one in the family could take Charlie so a daughter-in-law contacted ABR. Charlie is morbidly obese, 81#. His heart beats slowly and he pants a lot, trying to breathe. He’s a lovely, pleasant chap, does well with other dogs and likes people. He’s crate trained but prefers a sofa and soft life. Charlie is hw- but has something going on with a salivary gland. The vet put him on pred and doxy and will recheck next week. Also will do another blood draw next week b/c he has an elevated liver enzyme. Has AKC paperwork

5.13.24 Return to the vet, lost 5#, bloodwork has improved, salivary gland swelling is decreasing, appt for next week to check liver values again. Charlie is trotting and bouncing a bit, tried to jump in the car on his own!

5.15.24 Foster found Charlie deceased this morning. He had been restless the previous evening but settled and she had checked on him throughout the night.
