Dog Story: Meet Mocha! This darling little girl was born into rescue on May 23. Mom is rescue Brittany Izzy and dad is a German Shorthaired Pointer. Mocha is cute as can be as well as full of energy and fun! She loves to play with toys, chew on Nylabones, and follow the other dogs. Mocha has beautiful German Shorthair markings; a shiny liver coat with white chest blaze and paws. She is an affectionate, cuddly puppy who loves to romp and play. She is healthy, plump, and eating puppy food. As with all babies, Mocha can run, play and eat, crash for a nap, then get up and do it all over again! She has been socialized from birth with children of all ages, her littermates, and the five resident Brittanys. Mocha needs an active family that is ready for all the joys of a little bird dog puppy and can teach her all she needs to know as she grows into a big girl. Mocha is just a baby and therefore her new family needs to be prepared for all the responsibilities of puppyhood, including: housetraining, crate training, chewing, learning obedience and good doggy manners, and channeling that endless bird dog energy! Her ideal home will have experience with Brittany pups or similar sporting breeds and understand the joys and challenges of raising a little puppy into adulthood. Mocha’s tail was docked and dewclaws removed. She will be ready to go to her new home at 8 weeks of age which will be the end of July. Prior to adoption, she will be microchipped, dewormed, and have her first set of puppy vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $300, plus an additional $300 refundable spay/neuter deposit which will be returned upon proof of altering at 6 months old. Due to her young age and limited immunity, we will not fly or transport Mocha. Adopters will need to travel to pick up their pup. If you are interested in adopting her, please complete the online adoption application and mention Mocha-3240; then contact her foster family for more information. Update 7/10/2011: Mocha’s adoptersplan to call her Billie! The previous owner of the pups’ Brittany mom took her on a hunting trip with a friend’s German Shorthaired Pointer while she was in heat. He surrendered Izzy to ABR in Utah and she was transported to California sofoster volunteerscouldwhelp her puppies.
