Adopted!!!
Dog Story:
Alfie is an adorable tricolor boy with tons of spirit and playfulness. He prances around proudly throwing his rope toys in the air and is still 100% mischievous Brittany puppy! Alfie had a happy Thanksgiving arriving from the shelter into ABR’s care. He was kept as an outdoor kennel dog his entire life and has a lot to learn! Alfie is sweet and affectionate and his greatest joy in life is human attention. He enjoys jogging around the yard but is happiest settled down close to you, a true velcro dog with chin resting on your lap or laying at your feet. Like a puppy Alfie is curious to investigate and put everything in his mouth – he is supervised closely as he can often be found trotting around with a shoe, stick or even a coconut! Replacing with appropriate doggy chew toys keeps him happy and content.
All the things about living in a house were totally new and Alfie is learning housetraining, basic commands such as come, sit and wait and taking treats gently. Alfie loves food and is learning the off and leave it commands to discourage counter-surfing and the occasional digging outdoors. Like all Britts Alfie pulls on leash and a basic obedience class with his new family will benefit his confidence and training; Alfie is a very soft dog eager to please and responds well to gentle corrections. Alfie gets along well with other dogs and enjoys play-bowing to encourage friends to romp with him. He has a healthy prey drive so will likely chase cats. Alfie is friendly with people and with his puppy exuberance would be suited for a home with older children. Alfie loves his crate and runs at top speed into his kennel for mealtime and treats. He sleeps and rests quietly in his little den when the family is out and for nighttime. Adopters must agree to continue using the crate as this is Alfie’s favorite spot to relax.
Alfie weighs 33 pounds and is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventive and microchipped. He has had a dental cleaning for that bright Brittany smile and is ready to find his forever home. If you are interested in welcoming home a busy-bee puppy, please submit the online adoption applicationand mention Alfie-4921, then contact his foster family to meet him in person!
Alfie and his buddy Zack were surrendered to a rural shelter along with a number of other hunting dogs. They spent several months at the shelter with the care and expertise of the staff teaching them the joy of human attention and love. Alfie and Zack were brought into ABR foster care to enjoy the good life in sunny Florida.
