Adopted!!!
Sweet and shy Abby is looking for her forever home. Could it be with you?
Abby has lived for the past year and a half with a family that includes a toddler, cat, and smaller dog. Recently as her owner has progressed further into pregnancy, Abby has begun exhibiting aggression towards the family’s smaller dog. This, coupled with an increase in travel for their careers, has led to them seeking another living arrangement for Abby.
Abby’s family wants to find her a home with the following things:
Loving and patient owners: Abby’s family rescued her from a less than ideal situation. They suspect she has been abused, and as a result she is very timid with strangers. She requires gentle coaxing and positive reinforcement to come out of her shell.
A yard and room to play: Abby currently has a 6ft privacy fence and loves to play in water. Her humans make sure she has access to a kiddie pool in the summer, and her favorite rope toys! Abby has shown some fear of being leashed and cowers when one is attached to her. While she can learn this isn’t a scary experience, we feel a situation where she needs to be leashed for exercise and bathroom trips, such as an apartment, should be avoided.
Potential playmates: Abby has never shown aggression towards her family’s toddler or cat. She gets along well with larger dogs, but as mentioned above, is having issues with the family’s smaller dog. If Abby were to have a playmate, we feel she will acclimate best with a dog her size (approximately 40lb) or larger. Being timid, she seems to gravitate towards quiet settings and may feel safest with older children or even as an only dog.
Abby is vaccinated, heartworm negative and on preventative. She is currently living with the family who rescued her, and they’ve asked ABR to help find her forever home. If you’re interested in Abby, please complete an adoption application and contact the volunteers listed to the left of her bio, who will handle all adoption proceedings for Abby.
