Ellie is such an adorable girl, eager to please, and has been submissive to other dogs in her pack despite being the strongest and heaviest (44lbs).In the house, Ellie is surprisingly good, and is eager to cuddle up. She loves to monitor windows for excitement and is great at spotting the squirrels and rabbits. We are impressed with her very high energy and hunting drive. The “window-time” has calmed down as she has grown comfortable with her surroundings and is now getting to run 2-3x a day.Ellie would likely make a very good hunting dog, with training, but is also doing very well as indoor dog. She is house and crate trained. Ellie loves being with her people and has done very well sleeping next to the bed.Ellie lived her early life in the confines of a backyard and kennel as a breeder dog. It seems she has learned to express her energy in excited ways;jumping up on things, occasionally leapingover wooden fences, crawling under a gap in a fence, and also hopping on her hind legs and’boxing’her front paws in a friendly manner (these have all been improving).She is such a beautiful dog that would be a blessing to the right home. We’d expect even faster progress on her manners if she were in a one dog household with consistent training. Currently, we have been making strides with recall and ‘listening’ for boundary corrections to keep her nose from escaping the fun ‘agility training device’ we strange people call a fence.This quirky ‘nut’ called Ellie could thrive in an active home where she can run, go on long walks, and be exercised very regularly and where her owner can work on setting boundaries with consistent, positive training. Ellie thinks she would be a lap dog if allowed, and really needs constant unwavering love and attention; learning to adjust to her people’s standards. She has not yet been tested with young kids or cats.Ellie will be available to adopt after her spray, which isscheduledfor July 6th.
