Adopted!!!
Rusty is a 2-year-old energetic sweetheart looking for
his forever home. He lived outside in rural KS, in a 10×15 pen, with little to
no socialization until now. Everything is new to him! He’s a 42lb puppy
adjusting to a whole new world of sights, smells, tastes and sounds. Walking through
door frames, for example, is still a bit of a challenge (he tends to pace or
circle us as we’re moving to let him in/out the back door and will then barrel
through the door when it’s opened). Rusty loves to be loved once he opens up.
He is also prone to rambunctious play (as energetic puppies are!) and learning what is and isn’t a toy! Small
children would need to be well-supervised when around Rusty, as he doesn’t have
much spatial awareness right now. In addition, new people, places, sounds make
him nervous, and he will need time to adjust to a new home. Rusty sleeps perfectly
in his kennel all night long and with no messes. He was neutered on 8/26/21, microchipped, had his teeth cleaned, is HM negative, UTD on HM/flea/tick preventative, and vaccines. He is also easily groomed and accepting of exams at the vet (bath, nail trim and ear cleanings at foster home have been no problem, and our vet loved him). He is still adjusting to free riding in a car, but kennels perfectly in a car if you have room. Above all else, Rusty enjoys playing with the resident female Britt in our home and sleeping under foster mom’s desk while she works from home. Additional information as well as pictures and videos can be requested from the foster family.
Rusty will do best in a home with another dog who loves to
play, and an active family who is patient and consistent as he learns obedience,
recall, leash manners, basically everything, from scratch! No sight unseen adoptions for Rusty. We feel all family members (human and canine) must meet this sweet boy prior to an approved adoption. Please fill out the adoption application and mention Rusty from KS!
