Adopted!!!
Avery is a 1 year old spayed liver_white Brittany, owner surrender in Gainesville, FL. Avery was purchased by owners from Craigslist as 12 week old puppy. Owners can no longer keep Avery due to medical and financial issues.
Avery weighs 20 pounds, is spayed, UTD on vaccinations, HW negative, on HW/flea-tick preventive and PetLink microchipped. She is an indoor dog, housetrained, crate trained, good with people/dogs/kids, cats unknown. ABR has medical records from veterinarians in Gainesville FL (Gainesville Animal Hospital, Millhopper Veterinary Medical Center, University of Florida Small Animal Hospital.) At around 6 months old Avery presented with several medical issues (retained baby tooth needing extraction, inverted vulva which does not require treatment other than supervising to prevent UTI, elevated thyroid and lack of growth/weight loss.)
Owners have consulted with UF Small Animal Hospital for various diagnostics and bloodwork (CBC/Chem, thyroid tests, blood tests to rule out cancer etc.) and her liver/kidneys are normal. Avery has elevated thyroid levels (hyperthyroid) and possible intestinal absorption issues, which may be causing lack of weigh gain/maintenance. Owners have increased her daily food intake and Avery is now gaining more weight. UF Oncology specialists have ruled out cancer based on bloodwork, and are consulting with UF Internal Medicine on remainder of results. UF Vets may recommend abdominal ultrasound and/or biopsy to rule out any additional issues. Vets are recommending Avery be placed on a special diet to aid in intestinal absorption, injected supplements to maintain vitamin/mineral levels, and extraction of retained baby tooth. Owners will be getting update from UF Internal Medicine on recent test results/Dx. ABR intake will be determined as UF Small Animal Hospital continues ongoing diagnostics and recommendations with owners.
Update 10/15/17: Avery surrendered by owner to ABR foster in Fort Myers, FL. She has had veterinary evaluation, HW test negative, abdominal ultrasound, bloodwork and is continuing weekly B12 supplement injections and treatment with ABR vets for medical issues.
