Hello! Ruger here. I am a 4.5 year-old, male Brittany who loves hunting, the outdoors and cuddling my humans. My owner was no longer able to keep me due to travel and so he graciously surrendered me to the ABR. The first 4.5 years of my life were good. I lived mostly outdoors in a kennel with my dog brother and was able to come inside the house sometimes. Therefore, I am house trained and crate trained. I also did some of grouse hunting. I love to hunt and have a lot of energy. The past three weeks at my foster home has been awesome! My foster parents are active outdoors and that is what I needed. I currently have two foster dog siblings and I LOVE to play with them. I get to stay in the house ALL THE TIME and boy do I love being with my foster parents, their 7 month old daughter and my dog siblings. My favorite person is my foster dad.I follow him EVERYWHERE. He likes to pheasant hunt and has taken me twice now! He says I have great hunting ability but will need to work on those pheasant skills because I am use to hunting grouse in the woods. Did I tell you..I am e-collar trained. I rarely use a leash because I respond to your verbal commands well. My foster parents don’t have a fenced yard.but that’s okay because I like to stay close anyway. Foster Mom here, Ruger is an all around excellent Brittany. Ideally, we would like Ruger to find a forever home that takes him bird hunting, is able to excerise him off-leash for atleast an hour per day, keeps him indoors, has other dogs, and gives him lots of human interaction. Ruger tested positive for Lyme’s Disease when we took him to our vet. He has gone through a course of antibiotics and will need to be rechecked in six months. Ruger does not show any symptoms of Lyme’s Disease at this time.
