Dog Story: Bodi is a 3 year old champion-bred boy who embodies the best of Brittany qualities. He has stolen our hearts from week one with his happy demeanor, laid-back character and loving charm! This sweet boy came to ABR from owners who raised Bodi and his brother from puppyhood, but decided they could no longer care for his particular special needs – which was all the best for this guy as he has gained so much strength and confidence in his short time with us! Bodi adores people and dogs, playing outdoors, chasing and retrieving tennis balls, and is a champion swimmer! Bodi’s special qualities don’t jump out at you right away as they are actually quite subtle. Since his arrival in foster care, we’ve been able to obtain a very thorough medical analysis working with our veterinarians as well as consulting with a canine veterinary neurologist. Bodi has completed a full neurological evaluation including MRI and spinal tap, and our vets have determined that Bodi has a perfectly normal brain – he is just a little clumsy from time to time! Bodi does not require any medication for his condition. His special care consists only of occasional use of spiffy canine footwear, as Bodi’s foot drop causes his front paws to sometimes pick up and slide forward against the ground. When walking long distances on hard pavement, Bodi uses doggy booties on his front paws so that his paws don’t drag directly against the surface and scrape his nails and feet. Bodi would greatly appreciate anyBrittany Buddyassistance with his veterinary evaluation expenses. All Brittany Buddy donations make it possible for ABR to continue helping our rescue Britts who need a little extra care as they find their forever homes. Upon a nice grassy backyard or sandy beach, Bodi can stretch his long legs running and romping for hours! He loves chasing lizards and squirrels in the backyard, playing at the dog park and his absolute favorite hobbies are swimming and playing ball! Fetching a tennis ball will keep Bodi occupied for hours, and he will greet us in the afternoon with a run for the tennis ball waiting to play. Bodi is also the Brittany version of a fish – oceans, lakes, puddles and water of any kind are this boy’s ultimate dream! Bodi is a swift agile swimmer and would probably swim to Cuba without a leash. He would be completely in paradise at a home near the sea or lake, and even has his own doggy life jacket ready to go! Looking for a fishing/boating buddy? Bodi’s definitely your guy. Bodi has free reign of the house indoors while we work during the day and is perfectly potty trained. Mr. Bodi is an extremely mild-mannered and calm boy for such a young Brittany, although he still has that natural bird dog spirit and definitely needs to get in a couple of long walks and some fetch and play time each day. Bodi is AKC registered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventive and microchipped, and at 55 pounds is slim and trim in perfect shape. Lots and lots of Bodi kisses and cuddles are waiting for the forever family who welcomes home this handsome guy – could you be the lucky one? Please submit the online adoption application and mention Bodi-4987, then contact his foster family to talk all about Bodi! Bodi and his brother lived with their previous owner since they were young pups. Due to changes in family situation Bodi’s owners felt it was best to find a new home better suited for his needs.
