Dog Story: Cobalt is a small 3 year old orange and white male who is very sweet, gentle, and playful. Cobalt is a bit of a special case. He came in with demodex and it’s been a struggle to get it under control, but he’s finally gotten three negative skin scrapes!!!! He is now demodex free. Additionally, he has just finished up treatment for heartworms. After months of vet care, he’s a healthy boy with a beautiful coat that has almost completely grown back in. Cobalt is a very skittish little guy, but loves to be held, and warms up quickly to new people. He plays well with other dogs and really enjoys his play time in the yard. He is a very submissive little guy and would do best in a home with only female dogs or as an only dog. Cobalt tends to get overwhelmed with other male dogs and it worries him. Cobalt is now available for adoption he’s been treated for heartworms, is demodex free, microchipped, neutered, and ready to find his forever family. Cobalt will only be adopted locally (within a 5 hour drive of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area) and will NOT be flown on an airplane to an adopter. Per vet recommendation, additional stress could cause a flare up of his demodex and now that it’s under control, we’d like to keep it that way. : On July 24, ABR participated in Operation Magnolia Brittany with the seizure of 103 Brittanys from a breeder in Louisiana. Despite the less than optimal situation they came from, in most every way they are your typical Brittanys – eager for love, resilient and spirited, and so very happy and sweet. However, nearly all the Magnolia Brittanys are Heartworm Positive and require Heartworm treatment prior to adoption. Heartworm treatment requires several months in foster care and the cost of Heartworm treatment for each dog is approximately $1,000. The costs of veterinary care, vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping and Heartworm treatment in addition to the expense of supplies and transport for such a large group of dogs has been a great logistical and financial commitment. Our Brittanys are in desperate need of Brittany Buddy help and donations to help with the costs of their vet care, medical expenses and transport. Please find it in your heart to contribute to Operation Magnolia Brittany and become a Brittany Buddy – all donations will go directly towards helping these wonderful, deserving Brittanys on their journey to a new life! If you are interested in adopting one of these wonderful Louisiana Brittanys, please submit the online ABR adoption application and then contact their foster families.
