Dog Story: Meet Archie, a very intelligent young and small Brittany which we obtained just 3 days ago. He was rescued from a shelter in Nebraska. Archie’s age is estimated at 7 months, but we aren’t sure. His adult teeth are in but he has a smaller body (19′ and 30 lbs.). Archie is quickly adapting to his role at the bottom of the pack in our household with 2 older Britts. Most notable is his quickness for learning. When we got him just a few days ago he was untrained and a blank slate but with a ton of energy. Within a few days he has learned his name, to come when called, become housebroken, learned many ‘NO’s’ and figured out the doggie door in less than a minute. He loves attention and is well on his way to becoming a great dog for someone. From all indications he could become a great bird dog as well. I will be starting him on pen-raised chukar after he learns ‘whoa’ a bit better. He is settling in and is a very sweet and responsive dogs with both humans and other dogs. I’ve not started him on birds yet because I found out that he is gun shy. I will start him on chukar when he finishes his desensitization (to guns) program I’ve got him on.
