Dog Story: Gem (short for Gemstone) is a beautiful, wiggly and playful French Brittany. She greets us with a wagging tail and body which doesn’t stop moving. Gem is 10 months old and a typical Britt pup, full of energy and always on the go. She gets along exceedingly well with children and other dogs and is very gentle. She wants to be loved and enjoys being the center of attention. Gem follows us around the house and loves putting her head on your knee for pets. Other times at the breakfast table she lies down on the floor between us and puts her head near our feet. She is really a joyful, fun dog to be around. Finding herself in a shelter at a young age wasn’t easy on little Gem, but she is continuing to blossom now in a safe and loving foster home. She is showing more interest in smells during our morning and evening walks and enjoys occasionally barking at the deer. Gem is crate trained and sleeps in her crate next to our Brittany. She loves playing tag and running in the backyard with her foster sister and has done well with housetraining so far. Gem is responsive to positive training commands and eager to please. Although quite well-behaved for a youngster, Gem is all Brittany puppy and requires a committed family that can devote a lot of time at home, attention, exercise and love to an active growing bird dog. She will need continued training and supervision in her new home as well as obedience classes to learn manners as she grows into a good canine citizen. Gem is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped, and all ready for a new family to come meet her. If you’re interested in welcoming home a little Gem, please submit the online adoption application and mention Gem-3874 before contacting her foster family. Gem was surrendered by her owner to a shelter in Los Angeles.
