Chief

(New Mexico)

Hello.  My name is Chief.  I am a 6 year old Brittany.  I am kind and loving.  I love to be with my human.  I like going on walks or doing anything outside.  I have some anxiety about being alone so I need someone that has another dog or that can be with me a lot. I love attention and affection.  I can't get enough belly rubs or snuggles.  I am really good with kids as I have a lot of patience.  I am currently on a weight loss journey.  I have never been around cats so I am not sure how I feel about them.  I have had some hunting training, how to protect, the point and a few other basic commands.  I think I would be a great addition to any family.  I have a lot of love to give.

Dog story:  relatives had Chief for the last 5 years but decided they could no longer care for him.

Hello, my name is Rio. I have a sad story to tell. I lived in a dog kennel with two other dogs. We got feed and water daily, but not much fun time with my owner. We didn't understand why. We were good and just wanted someone to play with. One day he moved away and didn't take us with him. It got cold and we didn't have food or water. One of my dog brothers went to sleep and didn't wake up. One day a nice lady came a took us to her house. We had a clean kennel with food and water. She called the nice people at ABR and my new foster family came a got me. Wow, I didn't know a dogs life could be this good. I have my own crate that I call my safe place. I get to sleep inside on a nice doggie bed. I have all the food I can eat. I am learning how to play with toys. I went to the doggie doctor and got all my shots and my teeth cleaned and something called neuter. Not the best day of my life, but certainly not the worst. All better now and looking for my next adventure and my forever home.

Hey, foster dad here. Rio is working on basic commands and house training. He craves human contact. It is believed he did have much with his original owner. He is about 6 years old and 37 pounds. He is up to date on immunizations and heartworm negative. He came to us at the same time another male dog arrived, and he had and little adjustment period. The other rescue switched out for a female and all is good. I believe in time, he will learn there is enough love and food to go around. So if you a looking to add a Brittany to your family and have a little extra love to share, then please consider Mr Rio.

Dog  Story:
3 words to describe Miss Daphnee - LIFE IS GOOD! If you are familiar with the "Life is Good" t-shirt company then you can probably picture a very happy dog enjoying life to the fullest. This dog is Daphnee. She is such a happy-go-lucky Brittany! Just yesterday, after running and playing ALL day in the yard chasing butterflies, cormorants, lizards and anything that moves she tears off running in large circles and flops on the ground for a wiggle session to scratch her back. So much fun to watch.

Don't let her age fool you. On March 19, 2019 she will turn 10! Daphnee does not act like 10. Be prepared to let her run OFF LEASH to burn her energy. Once she has had a chance to run and play she behaves beautifully inside. A few times it has rained all day and she did well inside however she wanted to be in my lap and then off, then on, then off, etc. Daphnee does great around all dogs of all sizes. She past the Camp Bow Wow temperament test and played very well with all of the doggies there. She is interested in the indoor cats however does not bother them - just curious. Daphnee does well riding in a car without a kennel - haven't tested her with one. We are still working on the off-leash training. There are times she does really well keeping her distance close and then there are the times the chase is on. To be fair, we live in an area where there are a lot of undeveloped tracts of land and Brittany distractions are everywhere. The only time I could not find her she was back at my home sitting on the front porch - Good girl Daphnee. Daphnee needs a secure fence and will test every possible weakness in the fence.

Daphne is up to date  on all vaccinations, spayed, heartworm  negative and on preventative. She is also microchipped. While being spayed we had a growth removed on her belly and had it examined by a pathologist. Luckily, the growth was benign with no residual issues. She currently weighs around 30 pounds and looks good at that weight. She eats a bit more (1.5 cups, 2 times a day) than my other Brits however she burns it off running and playing. Due to a lifestyle change Daphnee is an owner surrender. Daphnee's forever home will need to have another dog to help burn her energy. She also needs a secure fence. If you are interested in adopting Daphnee please fill out an adoption application

History:
Daphne is an owner surrender to rescue due to a lifestyle change.
