Chief

(New Mexico)

Adopted 01 February 2020!!

Hello.  My name is Chief.  I am a 6 year old Brittany.  I am kind and loving.  I love to be with my human.  I like going on walks or doing anything outside.  I have some anxiety about being alone so I need someone that has another dog or that can be with me a lot. I love attention and affection.  I can't get enough belly rubs or snuggles.  I am really good with kids as I have a lot of patience.  I am currently on a weight loss journey.  I have never been around cats so I am not sure how I feel about them.  I have had some hunting training, how to protect, the point and a few other basic commands.  I think I would be a great addition to any family.  I have a lot of love to give.

Dog story:  relatives had Chief for the last 5 years but decided they could no longer care for him.

Hey guys it’s me.... Duncan Dog!!!   I am a carefree fun loving young man looking for an active family that wants to play a whole bunch during the day, then love on me at night.

I love to play tug of war and fetch with everyone. Sometimes I forget that not all things on the floor are not mine.... Oops!

I am getting really good at using the "poor puppy face" and it gets me out of trouble real fast <G> I love to talk while playing and my favorite place to be at any given time is...... right in the middle of everything!

Foster mom here!

Duncan has been doing excellent with our Brittany, Nikki and the kids. Duncan knows sit and lay down well. He walks good on a leash but needs a bit more practice. Duncan is very loving and loves to play and talk. Duncan has not had any accidents in the house and enjoys cuddling on the sofa in the evening.

Duncan will need an active family that loves to play and rough house a bit but then enjoy cuddle times at night!

If you feel Duncan could be an excellent fit for your home life/style, then please complete the adoption application and mention his name/ID # and we will be glad to get back to you!  Duncan is UTD on his vaccines and is H/W negative and on preventive!

HISTORY:

Duncan was found as a stray and turned into the shelter who contacted our rescue.

Adopted !!

Hello, my name is Rio. I have a sad story to tell. I lived in a dog kennel with two other dogs. We got feed and water daily, but not much fun time with my owner. We didn't understand why. We were good and just wanted someone to play with. One day he moved away and didn't take us with him. It got cold and we didn't have food or water. One of my dog brothers went to sleep and didn't wake up. One day a nice lady came a took us to her house. We had a clean kennel with food and water. She called the nice people at ABR and my new foster family came a got me. Wow, I didn't know a dogs life could be this good. I have my own crate that I call my safe place. I get to sleep inside on a nice doggie bed. I have all the food I can eat. I am learning how to play with toys. I went to the doggie doctor and got all my shots and my teeth cleaned and something called neuter. Not the best day of my life, but certainly not the worst. All better now and looking for my next adventure and my forever home.

Hey, foster dad here. Rio is working on basic commands and house training. He craves human contact. It is believed he did have much with his original owner. He is about 6 years old and 37 pounds. He is up to date on immunizations and heartworm negative. He came to us at the same time another male dog arrived, and he had and little adjustment period. The other rescue switched out for a female and all is good. I believe in time, he will learn there is enough love and food to go around. So if you a looking to add a Brittany to your family and have a little extra love to share, then please consider Mr Rio.

Vesper, (yes, as in Vesper Lynd the Bond Girl!) is a 10 year old spayed female. She came to ABR as an owner surrender due to personal reasons - no fault of her own!

Vesper is a very sweet girl with excellent manners. She knows, sit, down, stay, and "pound it" (fist bump)! Heck, this girl even gets in the bathtub on her own! She is also crate trained and goes in willingly. Vesper has also had hunting training, but showed no desire or drive to hunt, so she never did. As a bonus she has off leash and recall training!

She is wonderful in the house and is so happy to be with her people and very much enjoys the big toy basket! She is one to follow you around the house or set her head on your knee for love. Vesper is allowed on the couch with us, and loves to snuggle up.  She also loves to play with her foster brothers and gets so excited when they reciprocate. She would do best with another dog to play with.

Don't let her age fool you,  this girl is not slowing down any time soon. She has plenty of energy and enthusiasm, but can keep herself entertained with enough toys and chewys (she loves Himalayan cheese chews). She goes on walks alone or with her foster brothers once or twice a day. While she can sometimes pull on the leash she is getting better and really enjoys her adventures.

Vesper could stand to lose a few pounds - but we are working our way back to Bond Girl status.

Vesper has a mild heart murmur which has been checked out with an echo. She does not require medication or restrictions at this time. The vet recommends montioring and potentially another test in a year to be safe.

For more information or to meet Vesper reach out to her foster mom, Robyn!

Introducing Sage!  Sage is a super sweet, snuggly girlie who loves people and loves running in the backyard.  She loves to play fetch and always has a toy or bone in her mouth if she’s not playing fetch.  Her absolute favorite thing to do appears to be carrying a toy while running laps around the backyard.  Second to that would be snuggling with her person on the couch.  Sage is fairly high energy and would do best in a home with a large yard for her to play in.  She enjoys walks and does okay with her easy walk harness, but otherwise pulls at the leash.  She rides well in the car.  Sage is housebroken and crate trained.  She does best when left with lots of bones to chew on, as she will chose other, inappropriate things, if she doesn’t have a wide selection of bones.  Sage loves her toys and enjoys carrying and shaking her toys.  She doesn’t want to play tug with a toy but is happy to play fetch.  She does well with other dogs but can sometimes air snap (snap at the air in front of a dog) if they get too much in her face.  She does enjoy playing with other dogs as long as it doesn’t get too rough and is just a friendly game of chase.  She likes to snuggle and would love a house that will let her snuggle on the couch and sleep on the bed.  She’s good on a dog bed of her own as well, though.

Sage is an owner surrender from an owner who’s life circumstances changed.  He wasn’t able to give Sage the environment she needed and made the difficult decision to surrender her.  Sage is in great shape and has a wonderful temperament.

Sage is current on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and current on heartworm and flea/tick medication.
