What can I tell you – Bru is a gentlepup and a beauty. Underweight and heartworm positive when he came into rescue, Bru has successfully completed heartworm treatment and currently weighs in at a healthy 53 pounds.

An extremely sweet and affectionate Britt he is very loving and wants nothing more than to please his humans! He is no longer known as “Bru-NO” but prefers being called Bru (BruBaby, BruBoy, Bru-tiful, Bru-talicious, Suba-Bru). Since joining ABR this boy has been through some trying times. He has transitioned from living outdoors, has conquered housetraining, has gained an appreciation for toys (especially the squeaky ones) and successfully completed treatment for heartworm disease. Throughout his ordeals Bru has been a trooper and delight to all humans. Canines on the other hand are an issue of concern. During puppyhood Bru was not socialized with other dogs and he is A-F-R-A-I-D of other canines to the extreme. Bru has been evaluated by a behaviorist and is working on overcoming his extreme reaction to other canines however is a work in progress. His foster family is working with Bru to redirect and control what could be a volatile situation when in close proximity to other canines. This is an ongoing process and extensive training is necessary.

This boy needs be included in an active family’s day to day life. Crated for long hours will result in a wild man with excess energy to burn. No long distance or sight unseen adoptions for Bruno. We feel it is important that all family members meet to assure that we have a good fit. Bru is a sweet dog and a wonderful Brit who is anxious for your forever love and companionship. If you would like to considered for this wonderful guy complete the adoption application.

History:

Bru was owner surrender to a shelter. The shelter notified ABR and the rest is history. Bru came to us heartworm positive. Bru completed his heartworm treatment and was tested on August 22. Our boy is neutered, is current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He is also microchipped. Now all he needs is wonderful forever home to call his own.

Coco: cute, petite, snuggly, energizer bunny, high prey drive, sweet are some of the words that describe this wonderful Britt bit. She's perfectly house broken and crate trained. She does like to grab my slippers, tennis shoes, towels, anything cloth. As rambunctious as this gal can be, she is really not the best companion for a household with small children.

She's wonderful with all other dogs. She's very attentive, but usually not too pushy with me or the dogs. The cats...well, she gets right in their faces and barks. Neither of them run so she leaves them when I tell her to. Not sure about a strange cat.

Coco will need an experienced owner and a fenced in yard to contain that high energy. She will need training to learn what you expect of her/she needs to know what her job in life is/ learn her basic commands.

Please no sight unseen or long distance adoptions for this girl. We feel it is important that all family members (human and canine) meet to assure that we have a good fit. If you are interested in making her part of your family, please complete the adoption application.

History:

Coco was an owner surrender to ABR. Her former owner has some serious medical issues and was unable to care for Coco. ABR was notified and we took her into our foster care program. She is up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped.

Adoption Pending 14 September 2019!!

This boy is full of energy. He loves to go outside and run the backyard fence with our Brit. He also has a softer side, where he loves snuggling up for nightly cuddles. He has the run of the house with our pups and is completely trustworthy. He would benefit from having another young Brit or other active breed as a companion. A family with kids would be great too as long as they weren't real little kids. Cats he pretty much ignores. They are part of the pack.

Rookie is crate trained and will get into his crate when told. We don't hear a sound out of him all night. His recall is very good and loves chasing critters, but one outing with gunfire sent him fleeing the scene. Owner tracked him down miles away.

Rookie is a wonderful dog who needs be included in an active family’s day to day life. He loves his people and thrives on human attention. No long distance or sight unseen adoptions for Rookie. We feel it is important that all family members (human and canine) meet to assure that we have a good fit.

Rookie is a sweet dog and a wonderful Brit who is anxious for your forever love and companionship. If you would like to considered for this wonderful guy complete the adoption application.

History:

Rookie was return to ABR. He was adopted 18 months ago by a wonderful family who loved him. They recently took in a human foster child who is terrified of this boy. Rookie was being crated most of the day and began acting out. Escaping the yard and running the neighborhood. His family knew this was so unfair to Rookie and made the hard choice to return him to rescue. Our boy is neutered, is current on all vaccinations, Heart Worm negative and on Heart Worm Preventative. He is also microchipped. Now all he needs is wonderful forever home to call his own

Leo is truly a special, one-of-a-kind dog. Even though he’s a Brittany mix, the only thing that gives that away is his monkey-like (long) tail that’s always swinging around. He has yet to meet a human (both young and old) or dog that he does not instantly love. He has a fun and silly personality but also is very relaxed for a Brittany puppy! All he needs is a bone or two and he can keep himself occupied for quite awhile. He loves to chase after a tennis ball or the birds in the yard and really loves long walks around the neighborhood to meet all the neighbors!

Leo made it through the 4th of July and a thunderstorm or two without any issues. He has been left home in the morning and afternoon while his foster mom is at work and has not torn anything up! He is mostly potty trained but occasionally has an accident while alone at home. He has shown minor food aggression when it comes to meal time with his foster brother. He has been getting better and a little bit of training should take care of that.

Leo would do well in almost any environment that is looking for a life-long, four-legged best friend as long as they are active and are willing to give daily belly rubs!

Leo is up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative and on preventative.  If you are interested in Leo, please fill out the adoption application and mention his name and ID  #.  We would LOVE to talk more about this special boy.

History:

Leo came into the Humane Society as a stray...the staff felt he looked much like a Brittany and the photos they shared with us had us convinced as well.

Colby here, I am such a happy boy in my ABR home. I am in the country where I can run and catch my Frisbee, but mostly mom works in the yard, dad mows and I can just run and watch over them. I do bark to let them know if anyone is around our house. We don’t have a fence in the country  and I always stay close to my people (at least where I can see them!). When I go out to do my business, I come right back in or lay on the deck until somebody gets me!

My ABR family loves me and has a nicknames for me like Colby cheese, Colby Jack, or Colby cheese-head (but mom says she won’t let me go to Wisconsin ha-ha). There are no kids here at home, just mom and dad, I  like it that way. I have even grown to love my fellow Britt, Oden. Although I take a while to get used to others, once I feel comfortable I’m not scared anymore. In fact, Oden has taught me how to play (rough house) without being too aggressive! I taught him how to catch a Frisbee. Mom said he had no interest before I came along and showed him!

Mom says I’m so lovable, darn cute and well-behaved (um except if they leave food on the counter, then I think its mine too). I’m a big boy too, about 55 pounds, but I’ve lost some weight!  I usually sleep on my bed and lay on the floor, I’m cool with that, but if you invite me up on the bed, I’m happy to lay next to you!

Hi all, ABR foster mom here. We love Colby to pieces. We are looking for a home similar to ours. Some space with not too many people that come around. Colby is a barker and will bark all day if people walk by your yard. Only older kids (like teens), as he has a history of aggression with small kids. Maybe one other dog as he seems to have learned a lot from our Brittany, he loves 1 on 1 attention though. The more time you can be with him, the better. Maybe a retired couple/man or woman or work from home. Previous owners said he was aggressive with other dogs too, until he got used to them. I have videos and many more pictures.  If you are interested in this great guy please contact us, happy to answer all your questions.  Up to date on all vaccinations, on heart worm and flea/tick preventative.

HISTORY:

Colby is an owner surrender here in MN.  His prior owners have a small child and they were just not getting along.  They also are expecting and didn't want to add any more stress that was already there so they contacted ABR.

Meet Britt, an Oldie but a Goody of our wonderful breed! He is the sweetest senior at 13-14 years old and is mostly deaf and has arthritis but understands hand signals.  Even with his arthritis, he can run like the wind and then walk with a limp.  Sweet Britt was in our rescue once before many years ago and was adopted by wonderful gentlemen.  Unfortunately, he passed away and his son tried to care for Britt, but had so much going on in his own life, Britt wasn’t getting what he needed or was used to so we were contacted and it was wonderful to see my former foster again.

Britt now is looking for a family to call his own once more.  He is such a happy soul who gets along with other dogs but we are not sure about cats.  He was 100% housebroken, but let’s face it, as we get older, we cannot hold it as long as we once did, so he does need to be let out a little more often than a 2 yr old.

  1. If you enjoy the breed but are the point that a puppy or a younger active Brittany is not what you know you want, then please consider opening your home to a seasoned Brittany.  They are wonderful, quiet, loyal, great for taking walks without dislocating your shoulder and want just what you want.  A home, love and friendship.  If you are looking for this, look no farther!  Just complete the online application and mention his name and ID#. I would love to tell you more about Britt.  Britt is up to date on his vaccines and is heartworm negative and on preventative.

HISTORY:

As stated above, Britt was a rescue many years ago and was adopted and had a great life till his owner passed away.  His son knew he couldn’t care for him the way his did so he reached out to us.

Brusco

(Wisconsin)

Sweet and handsome Brusco is Britt boy who traveled from Greece in search of his forever home. He is an affectionate goof ball who gets along with kids and dogs. He is smart, active, loving and really just wants your attention. He’d love to play with another active dog or older kids. He is learning basic commands and is a joy to watch run our property.

Prior to arriving in the USA, it is believed Brusco was hit by a vehicle severely breaking his left front leg. His leg was repaired in Greece, with several pins and a metal plate. This guy has been evaluated by an Orthopedic Specialist at U of W Madison and has been through a whole course of physical therapy. We see huge progress and in his movement. Brusco can run with the best of them!

Please, no sight unseen or long distance adoption for the B-Man. We feel it is important that all family members (human and canine) meet to assure that we have a good fit. If you would like to considered for this sweet boy complete the adoption application.

History:

Brusco is one of 4 International Dogs that arrived from Greece 3/9/19. Our boy is neutered, is current on all vaccinations, Heart Worm negative and on Heart Worm Preventative. He is also microchipped.
