A smiling dog will lift the spirits of even the grouchiest person! And this sweet girl is the happiest fur-baby you will ever meet!
Darby’s background and age isn’t known, but the vet estimates she is around five. She is on the smaller size weighing 22 lbs. She is UTD in vaccinations and is heartworm negative.
Darby is spayed but had some uterine and bladder issues when she came into ABR in April. She was spayed and has received all the medical attention needed to heal. She has grown and gained weight since her recovery and has become very playful.
She is so excited, all the time, about everything, especially meal and snack time! Darby LOVES to snuggle and giving kisses. She is working on “no kisses” and the “off” command, but she is just so full of love she’s about to burst. She is also learning “sit” which she understands, but “stay” is tough for her as she really wants to wag her tail at all times.
She is crate trained at night, and during the day, but hasn’t ever been left by foster mom for more than about 4 hours so it’s not known how she would do for longer periods of time if left alone. She currently goes to day-care or boarding if time alone is going to be longer than 3 hours, so she would probably be best-suited with someone who is mostly home.
She does well with other dogs. Her foster has never seen her interact with children, but the previous owner said she does great around kids.
She has great recall, will sit on command (after the third or fourth command.)
Darby loves to ride in the car and does fantastic! She doesn’t have any anxiety on trips. She loves to have her nose out the window but will also ride with the window raised. She doesn’t have anxiety going to the vet either. She wasn’t enthusiastic about fireworks, but she wasn’t freaking out either. She currently does bark at doorbells and ring notifications, but otherwise isn’t known to bark a lot.
